Anyone Gain Weight and then Loose it Again?

Hi everyone,

I have been on this lifestyle for about 2 months now; loving it, feeling clean and healthy, and fully satisfied with what I am eating.

Now then, the thing is that I have gained weight...which yes I know, lots of people have said this will happen if you come from a calorie restrictive background and that your body will hold on to the weight for a little while until it learns to trust that you are going to continue to feed it all the healthy plentiful calories from carbs it needs...I didn't even weigh myself as I have banished the scales, but all my clothes are very tight and some don't fit me anymore. I wasn't super skinny before, just a size 10/12 (UK Sizes) but now I can't button up my size 12 pants that were quite baggy on me.

Anyway, I understand the process and am trying to trust in it and keep going because I just know intrinsically that this way of eating is better for my health. I'd just like to know if anyone out there experienced the same thing, but then lost the weight and the rest of the fat they didn't want, or their body didn't need, whilst staying on the lifestyle? :)

I know this may be a long process but it's always good to hear a bit of an encouraging story off someone who has been in a similar position :)

Thanks fruity folks!

  • Yep! i've gained all my weight back from my calorie restrictive days where i lost all the weight the wrong way and then put it back on once i had an injury. I feel absolutely amazing compared to where i was before..( i had pretty bad social anxiety, woke up feeling like death etc.. You gotta pay the metabolic time, if you do the metabolic crime :) Hang in there! Don't let your physical appearance get to you.. it's a very superficial thing to cling to, but it's something humans do..

  • I know that freelee gain some weight in the start of her high carb low fat transition.

Then as time went by she lost more weight than she ever gained.

I am sure there is more people how have the same experience as her.

There should be some videos about the subject out there.

  • I do a lot of running that being said I was able to get up to over 4000 calories as soon as i quit being afraid to eat that much. It sort of came hand and hand I was eating a low carb diet that involved meat etc.. before and well I was stuffing in a lot of fruit towards the end of that diet. That being said I'd eat 2000 calories a day I might have a few hard hitting days and eat up to 3000 in a day. When i switched to this way of eating I was a hungrier a LOT hungrier but I was also scared to eat so much. I just started to go for it and actually lost 10lbs or so right off the bat and was eating over 4000 calories a day. within a few  weeks of starting.

I've since somehoe managed to gain about 7lbs back and with my exericise I'm obviously hungrier the more i do etc.. so it could vary. I sometimes wonder if I dont eat enough of course a weight gain would tell me I'm doing ok I guess.

I Dont think it'll take you too long to start cranking in the calories. whats your hangup compacity? or weary about eating so much? etc..

  • I think several people have and hopefully some of them will share their story with you because it would certainly be uplifting to hear.  My body is currently balancing out and I am currently in a gaining stage but I am having faith in my body and in this beautiful lifestyle that I will get to a healthy, slender, and fit body.

Just give your body what it needs be confident, treat it right, eat all your body dictates you to eat, relax and trust in yourself and I think it will all work out.

  • Your weight can fluctuate a lot throughout the day.  You can lose and gain 17 in one day if you eat watermelon all day.  Go by energy levels, how you feel, strength.  Everything else will fall into place.  Progress pics from month to month are better than what the scale says.  I think hair on my head is growing back in spots I thought would never grow again.

  • Its gotta be hard to gain eating like this. I imagine you wanna gain muscle I can only see it possible to eat more and excercise harder. I was looking to see how I could bump my protein to 10 or 11% and i'm struggling to do that with only eating fruits and veggies. unless I'm missing something> I know i could eat more greens then i do but still.

I checked out some vegan bodybuilding stuff and those guys seem to be smashing in protein tho when you run the math many are still in an 80/10/10 and there going lean about it. But they are eating beans and lentils and some protein powders not supported here tho so I dunno.

there is no where to run either. eat a lot of food a typical body builder might in a Bulking phase and well you'll get FAT too and have to cut it back down and cut calories wawawa screw that!

  • for me a 5lb fluctuation is no biggie it can come and it can go. It could be 5lbs of Sh$$ in my colon or some salt etc.. I recently had an unexpected gain of about 10lbs in 2 weeks. It had me paniced and same as you i got pants i cant get into. Since then the scales teetered and it appears to me that its more of a 7lb gain but whats different is generally I go with  my first mornings weight. after my run i generally weigh a lb or so higher then the mornings weight (my eating is consistent day to day) wierd thing is lately i'm 4 and 5 lbs lighter after my run then my morning weight. I'd say its the excess heat but thats never happened before.

I'm trying to not sweat it. I've eaten obnoxious amts of food on this diet and not gained a thing if this is a true fat gain Highly unlikly I'm sure i'll just burn it back off. if tis just excess water it'll come off. If its muscle gain then well what can i do about that?

I should banish the scales I think your on to something with that. Funny thing is my 10lb gain came while on vacation and i didnt weight myself the whole time i was gone. Maybe the lack of being neurotic caused this.

yeah it may seem insane that i weigh myself so much but I'm terrified to pack on any of the weight i've worked so hard to loose.
