I've been drinking 10 + coconuts a day now for the past week and my face has gotten noticeably chubbier...could it be the sodium in the water causing this?

Not too concerned cause I'm into my triathlon training and feeling AWESOME but I'm just curious monkey!

See attached image.

(note: attached image is not me now, it was me 40 days ago and 15 lbs heavier than I am now, however, my face is similar to that puffy look now!)

  • 10 seems like a lot to me... You do look kinda puffy to me. Not too bad, just barely noticeable. I would avoid the thai coconuts if I were you though as they are supposed to be dipped in nasty stuff like others have mentioned.

  • Wow  Ted. That barely looks like you! I remember a discussion that you started in regards to a fluctuation in water and whatnot. Do you have the link?

I've never had young thai coconuts do that to me, but I haven't had that many before. You're better off drinking coconut water when it's fresh down south.

  • Dont look puffy to me bro. Some people have different bone structures anyway.  Look at Landis vs Armstrong. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/5005018/Floyd-...

Dont compare your bone structure to others cos its something you cant change.

Do you want to look like a meth addict? ;)

Bro! Why are you still drinking those toxic thai coconut mofo's! lol!

10 a day? Man, they get dipped in some nasty stuff!

The sodium in them wouldnt do zip but all the toxic chems sure will.

  • I'm curious too.  I do remember reading that it takes the kidneys some time to adjust to different sodium intakes.  Are you feeling very thirsty?  Maybe this would indicate too much sodium?  I don't know what other symptoms would indicate that you are getting too much sodium.  Adam might have an answer for you.

"Sodium - Our requirements vary dramatically, depending on activity levels, climate, altitude, potassium intakes, kidney function and other factors. We can adapt to intakes as low as 69mg but its generally recommended to consume around 450-500mg per day.

  • Have you entered your meals on cronometer or something similar? Coconut is higher in fat, right?

If it's helping your triathlon training I wouldn't worry too much. :-)
