Coping with extreme stress

Hi friends, I am under extreme stress right now and feeling very weak, nausea and having low appetite. I just don't feel like eating much, only some water and little fruit, eating more makes me feel worse. No energy to do anything more than short walks. I just want to numb my brain with some grains, salt and fat and sleep all day..

It is related to work, financial and debt. I need to re-build everything so that it's low-stress. Starting with a new job. The last 10 yrs have been like hell. How do I get energy to do big changes?

  • Go on a Vipassana retreat! :)  http://www.dhamma.org/

Stay carbed up and hydrated and sleep as much as you want while doing at least a few minutes of vigorous exercise daily.  That is how to deal with stress.  Nothing will make you feel worse than under eating.

  • Dreamer, it sounds like you are experiencing extreme adrenal fatigue.  Give your body time to heal itself. Take in as much water and fruit as you can tolerate and take time off from any exercise or exertion.  Lots of rest!  Get your Vit B12 levels checked if possible-get a shot of B12.  Stress-filled jobs lead to heart disease and short life spans-take some rest time and then start your search for a new career or just a low-stress job until you can figure out a new career path.  Change is mandatory here!  Good luck and much peace and love.    Isabel

  • I know it must be really hard for you right now, but against stress, the best is relaxation, meditation, taking deep and slow breathings. If you are into spirituality, a spiritual practice would help you too. I have been under a lot of stress as well those last years and particularly those last 11 months, and that´s what has been helping me. I am also re-reading Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life by Shakti Gawain, it´s really good. Actually i am reading an old edition from this book and it is still great.
