Hydration

Do you drink water on the low fat raw vegan diet? There are mixed views on whether or not to hydrate with water on the LFRV diet. I watched some of Dr. Graham's videos on YouTube, and it does not look like he advocates additional water consumption if one is on a low fat RV diet and eat suffiecient amounts of juicy fruits. --> He does, look at answer from Andrew.Personally I feel the need to drink water to aid digestion and prevent dehydration. What is your take on this subject?

  • Ah yes Im enjoying my morning 'cuppa' right now.... drinking pure lifeforce energy from the sky ! Rain water up here is so energized! I probably wouldn't drink it in Sydney because of the pollution.
  • people can question me, i encourage that! lol!

im a world class ultra endurance cyclist. thats how i know about hydration..i learnt it from the top coaches around and the best riders around.

'if you wait till your thirsty, YOUVE WAITED TOO LONG!' that is the saying in world class sports. so if people want a glimpse into what it feels like to smash up hills etc, then lets start with drinking at least a litre at MINIMUM upon rising. kids at least half a litre.

the average person/child is so dehyrdrated, that to get them to drink a litre is very difficult at the start. the whole digestive system is so stressed that it hurts to drink that much water. just watch sedentary people 'puff their cheeks' when they sip water. watch athletes drink, they guzzle it.

do this test, see if you can drink a litre of water on an empty stomach..if you cant, your dehydrated.
  • did they die from drinking water? or did they just push their kidneys into failure via their high stimulant intake?

i know i could get a sedentary person, pump em up on stimulants, put some prize money down for a physical challenge on a hot day and they would collapse very quickly. this is the 'athlete' that died from drinking too much water..some overweight chubster that pepped emselves up on stimulants in order to get fit and just blew their kidneys right out. sounds better on the tombstone..

i agree that too much water will drown us. and that consuming salt wreaks havoc on the human bodies mineral system. thats why we monitor OBJECTIVELY rather than being SUBJECTIVE..

    fruits AND vegetables carrie.. :)
  • this will balance out once we have not eat'n salt for a while. for me its around every 2 hours.
  • the body will give us signs of pain when we are on the wrong track. ie: put your hand in fire and it hurts. get dehydrated and we feel weak, depressed, frustrated etc. its just the bodies clever way of saying 'hey, this lifestyle aint good, do it better!'.

how lucky we are that our body wants to live. we couldnt choke ourselves with our own hands could we? the body will overide our emotions everytime.

i was just talking with a friend whom is a doc in a 'looney bin'. i ask the about hydration and mental conditions. they agreed that they have NEVER met someone with mental issues that was into drinking sufficient water.

but i dont need mainstream science to prove something that is so common sense. society is dehyrdated on a epidemic level. anti depressent meds are now the second biggest seller in australia. number one is cholestrol lowering meds.
  • This past summer, I went a few weeks without drinking water. I was also doing manual labor at the time, but I didn't need any water because I was eating such juicy fruits. Now that it is winter, I am no longer eating such juicy fruits (well I do eat a lot of oranges, so I wonder why). But I do drink more water now than I did in the summer. Actually, I drink ALOT more water. I wonder why? Xerxes?
    • herbet shelton got this one wrong...lol! i guess herbet wasnt into keeping fit.

give me any person that is against drinking water and i will have em broken in 2 hours tops. just by going for a run with them in warm weather..the average person couldnt last 30 seconds, athletes are better cos athletes drink. this is one of the main differences between people with energy and those without. the discipline to drink water in the absence of thirst.

the bodies thirst mechanism is an emergency call. I HAVENT BEEN THIRSTY FOR OVER 2 YEARS...yet i drink litres each day. i just ensure im passing clear urine at least every 2 hours during the day and 1-3 times per night. if i dont get up at night to go wee, im dehydrated. simple as that. i know that lance armstrong measures his hydration 4 MONTHS BEFORE THE TOUR DE FRANCE! lol!

so yeah, if we want hardcore energy and fuel, lets get manic about hydration.. :)
  • I know yr sense of humour Mario! & I thought mine was odd! :-D Although u may have a point I am much nicer when im hydrated...
  • i drink about a gallon in the summer a day if i am training.

now i drink a few liters...

sometimes less if i am eating lots of juicy fruits.

I love to drink water upon rising and before/after/during exercise.
  • i use the color of my urine as a gauge to how much water my body needs..of course aiming for clear..

on travels recently i met someone who was extremely informative on the subject of drinking water...and warned me to stay clear of bottled spring waters as the allowed levels of electro conductivity (basically measuring the salts in the water) are way higher(double or more..and of a poisonous level) here in oz than the amounts allowed in Europe. these high levels can lead to neurological problems!!.

he told me distilled water is the healthiest and rain water (depending on the area). isnt it strange that we are told to use only distilled water in our car batteries? is that b/c any other water wld be too corrosive? i'm sure these waters wld have a similar action inside our bodies also..scary thought!!

i'm saving up for a rain water tank!!
