Lacto Vegetarian trying to turn Vegan

Hello I don't really know who will read this what can I say if people don't listen to me in real world  who will listen to me in virtual  one lol

well I am gonna try and maybe this will help me keep my self from falling of the edge in to oblivion.

I have been Lacto Vegetarian for 3 years and some change and I know eating dairy is wrong so please don't hate one me a lot of vegans when I tell them I eat cheese and I want to quit say Just stop eating but if it was that simple I would trust me one day I was like I don't want to eat meat anymore and I just quit so why cant I do the same with cheese I don't drink milk its just I eat cheese and sour cream and I know its wrong I have 2 cats I love animals and I know they treat them wronf to get the prouducts I indulge in. that's why I starte dthis blog I will not lie on this so it will keep me focus on taking cheese out but I do enbd up eating cheese or sour cream I will let u know. but it is 10:39 pm here and todat I did have macronie and cheese but im don't and tomorrow I will do my best to not indulge in that.

but anyways if there is someone in this big virtual world out there somewhere who will help me make a friend maybe to confide in and I can talk to it would amazing because I don't know any vegans where I come from . my family are all meat lovers and I live with them and my daughter my daughter is 8 and yes she its not veganm or vegetarian but shes a picky eater so I let her eat what ever she likes just so she will eat and when she gets old enough I will explain to her will I went to this life style and it will be her choice to join or not and I will not judge . but anyways .. hope I can find someone to join this journey with me ..

  • Hi there :)

The hardest part in transitioning is making the mental shift from "cheese=food" to "cheese=old cow milk=rotten calf food." For everything it takes time to make the mental shift. When I first went vegan I missed the taste or certain foods like BBQ wings and cheeses and would have to fight the urge when I'd smell them cooking. But now I'm at the point where I see meat cooking and it just hurts my heart because I no longer see food...I see a piece of animal flesh. The same goes for cheese and eggs. It just takes time to adjust mentally and realize it's not food....I hope that makes sense.

  • Welcome! :)

Have you seen youtube videos: Gary Yourofsky's The Best Speech You Will Ever Hear; Any of Karyn Calabrese's videos; Earthlings; Dr. Doug Lisle's The Pleasure Trap?

Try Daiya shredded mozzeralla to replace cheese for recipes such as alfredo, french onion soup, grilled cheese.  Try Daiya cheese cake, follow your heart vegan eggs, or just put black salt from ethnic markets on your tofu english muffin for the taste of eggs.  Start using almond or soy milk, it takes a week or so to get used to the taste.  Amy's makes a frozen vegan mac n cheese. For sour cream use avocado mashed and mixed with green onion, spread on your bagels and potatoes.
