Parrots on Prozac?!?!!?

Oh dear just flicked on the plasma bulls#*t box at my current house sit...just in time to hear the 'animal doctor' explaining why this ladies parrot was plucking its own feathers out.... Went something like this.... "Your parrot is frustrated and lonely" ...."oh really, what can I do about it Doc?" "Don't worry we have exactly what will help him....PET PROZAC!!" ...." What?... are you serious??" "Yep, your parrot has a deficiency in seratonin, Prozac will increase this straight away!" Oh dear god !! PET PROZAC!! We use animals as entertainment, we torture them, eat them, drug them..... What else could we possibly do to them? I think we have covered it. :-((

    Idiots.

I would like to see someone try to put prozac in my dog.
  • ug. so the answer to frustration and loneliness is prozac. someone should slap that doc for at least five minutes. then someone should take that poor parrot away to a place where it can fly and socialize- like animals were meant to do.
  • Have they thought that maybe the poor bird is depressed because nature gave it the awesome gift of being able to FLY and some asshole has raised it in a cage so now it never can?!!!
    grrr
  • That is so sad. Poor parrot being in a cage all on its own
