Stoicism- Best mind-hack

Having been practicing Manifestation and researching the Law of Attraction, i stumbled across Stoicism, and i must say it's a pretty !@#$%^& good mind hack.

Stoicism: the endurance of pain or hardship without a display of feelings and without complaint.

i know what your thinking. Stoicism sounds horrible....the urban dictionary definition is far more appealing! However, this definition makes it sound more like cold, dry Pessimism. Stoicism is more about not letting your emotions control your life, being rational, not worrying over trivial things in life, only caring about things that matter to you and non-conformity.

As of late, i have really become distant from certain people. It's not necessarily a bad thing though, in the past i just would have been afraid to sit alone or would have craved social approval (from people i didn't even like), but now i really don't care. There are some people who just lower my vibration, (these people are usually overbearing, aggressive with their believes, boisterous in nature, judgmental, complainers or have high neuroticism). Sometimes I sit alone and people assume i'm anti-social or something and i have even been called "apathetic" because i have expressed by lack of interest in prom, school spirit etc. I'm just not interested in that stuff. I'd rather spend my time on things i actually care about, spend time with people i actually care about.

i am not "anti-social" or "apathetic" (in fact i am more empathetic than i ever have been, and that is what causes me to isolate myself from people who lower my vibration), all of my emotions all still intact and i am in no way repressing my feelings. "Joy and grief are still there, along with all the other emotions, but they are tempered – and, in their temperance, they are less tyrannical."

I just don't believe in getting cut up over trivial things, i only emotionally react to things that are of importance to me

I'm pretty new to the whole Stoicism thing, but i'd love to know if any of you fruit bats are into it and have any experience with it. There are some aspects i disagree with, but it's a philosophy that can be modified to fit the modern world depending on the people i'm around and the environment i'm in.

Group of kids are sitting on a porch. Stoic walks by.

Kid - "Hey man, yur a !@#$%^ !@#$ an you suck &^%$!"

Stoic - "Good for you."

Keeps going.

I'd say the practice of Vipassana meditation would be the ultimate expression and practice of stoicism.  Try a free 10 day course for yourself and see what you think. ;)
