The Pleasure Trap

Has anyone read this? It's a really interesting book by two Vegan doctors - Douglas Lisle and Alan Goldhamer. Anyway, here is a YouTube link about what the pleasure trap is and how to escape it.

I've struggled with eating my whole life and can honestly say this book and rawtil4 helped finally free me. Hope it can help you too!

  • Its an excellent book  but most importantly, it teaches you to to understand logic and how we are designed by nature.  I found chapter 7 the one that opened my eyes and gave me the power to finally understand what I thoughtundefinedoriginally was a hopeless cause.   Understanding calorie density is the first step to knowing why we eat the way we do and how we have become so sick and obese as a society.   I have always said that true understanding comes in three waves..  1) knowing or being aware.  2) understanding why and 3) which I think is the key that is often missing is the How it works.    We all know that eating animal foods is bad for us and we know WHY its bad for us ( cancer, diabetes, fat, obesity cholesterol etc)  but to understand HOW it affects us and HOW it actually all works at least for me, cements the whole package.  Its never enough for someone to just tell me something, I need proof and I need demonstration.   Thats why Harley and Freelee resonate with so many people.  They don't just talk, they walk and show you why and how..

Below or above :) are my daily books of inspiration, knowledge and understanding.

    • Nice collection! I started Finding Ultra but got busy and never finished it.

Btw does your written post show up when you go to this page? I just had an email notification that you posted, which included your discussion about the what, why, and how of a problem, but it's not showing up on here :(

Well anyway, I was going to say that I agree with that. It's like knowing what you need - a key, why you need it - to get through a door, but understanding how it functions is vital in knowing how to pick the lock if needed :P

  • yes, I read the pleasure trap over and over again when I need motivation.

  • Wow. This is truely eye opening, thank you so much for sharing it with me. :)
    • You betcha!
