What products do you use for shaving?

Hey all. I guess this is really a questions for the guys on here. I've been shaving with a cartridge razor and just water for lubrication for a while now - it works OK but I find that when I shave every day I get a light rash.

What do you use for lubrication? I'm reluctant to go back to chemical foams & gels.

  • I use:

    - Feather all stainless steel safety razor

    - Feather platinum razors (sharpest double edged razors available)

    - Speick shaving cream

    - Shaving brush + bowel (to whip up a lather)

Been shaving this way for years, and doubt I shall ever change my current setup. The All SS razor will last a lifetime, the blades are dirt cheap but of excellent quality. I pay 31$ for 100 Feather Platinum razor blades and can easily get 6 shaves out of a blade. So thats 600 shaves for 31$.

This setup gives me a very clean shave at minimal costs, shaving is fast, safe and pleasurable.

  • Bump - just wanted to see if people have any other suggestions? Coconut oil doesn't seem to agree with my skin either.

  • I read that it's scientifically proven that the cleanest shave is from shaving cream (from a tub or jar, NOT aerosol) applied with a shaving brush. Use small circular motion to apply the foam. Beforehand, have a shower, or wash the beard with warm water and leave for a few minutes to soften the hairs. Rinse the razor in hot water, but not too hot or it will warp the blade.

Water on it's own will not be enough lubricant, unless you have very light facial hair. That's why you get rashes.

  • Electric razor and none

  • try coconut oil (the solid type) from the health food shop - its anti-bacterial as a added bonus

  • None, cuz I don't shave! nanananana

No, but seriously, Dr. Bronner's works pretty good, and I bet something like coconut oil would be fine...
