  • yesterday and earlier today i felt like crap. my stomach was insanely hurting but it went away eventually. I'm still going to keep it up though cause whenever my stomach isn't hurting, I feel amazing and full of energy

    • Are you're bananas totally ripe? Eating nothing but bananas for awhile thats obviously pretty important haha, I kind of neglected that when I did BI because I just wanted to get started. Is it happening after you're eating or just in general?

  • I have done 2 weeks (not back to back) and lost nothing. However, it did jump start my detox. I can say that I use flavored stevia drops to break up the banana after banana blues. So I'd have cinnamon and vanilla for breakfast, toffee drops in my lunch smoothie, etc.

My mom, who generally is a "vegan + 3oz of cheese a week" (as she calls herself), did BI for 5 days and lost 8lbs. It's tricky, I have a lot I can lose, my mom does not. So, you never really know what you are going on I get.

A raw vegan body building friend does a 3-4 week BI before competition, be cause it slims his body fat our very quickly for him.

As in all things, we are all unique.
  • Banana island can be a good and bad thing. Good for all the fruit you will be eating and great in the body for clearing out the digestive system. The thing is this get's old quick. Don't get me wrong I love my bananas. but I just don't like having them more then 2 meals a day. They are always my go to meal for breakfast. Bananas start my day with tons of energy. Make sure when doing this you add some variety in there so you don't get bored. If this is vanilla drops with smoothies, cinnamon and make banana cereal, or banana pudding. Variety will really help you with this. I would say just try it for a week first and see if you're enjoying it. If you are bored and tired of it don't do something you aren't liking. There is nothing wrong with eating other fruits. As long as you're staying plant based and whole foods all will be fine anyways.

  • Well, it kind of depends on your past, and how ripe your bananas are. The first time I did it, I had some mild detox symptoms for a few days at first. It was like having a cold, but no sore throat or pain... just watery eyes, sneezing, nose a bit runny. Maybe a bit like having allergies I guess (never had them, but sounds like it). If you are not used to the quantity of fiber, you might experience some bloating at first. I was bloated and gassy for about 3 days (along with those other symptoms), likely because I wasn't used to that much fiber and the bananas weren't as ripe as they should have been. Afterwards, though, my tummy got really nice and flat! By day 6 I was feeling really light and full of energy, and really liking how flat my stomach was. Just be sure to drink plenty of water, and also make sure your bananas are spotty.

I personally lost about 7 pounds a week after being on it, but this was likely due to all the hydration I was getting and how clean my bowels were/regular digestion, rather than permanent loss of fat---it's not healthy to lose too much fat in too little time. Banana island is more of an experience to cleanse your system and give your digestive system a rest (though it feels great also to have a nice flat tummy!) and also to help open your taste-buds to eating more fruit and continuing to eat a fruit based, healthy lifestyle that will help you in the long run.

    • How many bananas a day were you consuming? And how long did you stay on banana island?
