A group where we can share our pranayama techniques to raise our spirits. Because oxygen is the highest biological imperative, whether or not one plans on burning the carbs of 30 bananas. Like right now... you're on a computer. Are you breathing deep?

Lately I have become aware of my shallow breathing and I hear an inner voice say "BREATHE" and I naturally start breathing deeper.

  • Hope to garnish insights from this discussion for as I become aware of my breathing I become conscious

  • Looking forward to learning more and sharing.

  • I have also found that Breatheology, the Art of Conscious Breathing by Stig Avall Severinsen extremely helpful.  He's hardcore but presents it with a very user friendly writing style.

  • Has anyone here utilized free diving techniques to improve their lung capacity?  I did a first stage course called "no bubbles" a few years ago and it was great way to safely push beyond your comfort zone.  They forbid hyperventilation(leads to shallow water blackouts) and they focus on improving the muscles involved in breathing.  It was good for me, the only thing I didn't like is that they were mouth breathers.

Anybody else have a similar experience?  Oh yea and my first ever timed breath hold was three and a half minutes static and 60 metres dynamic.  I thought that was pretty cool.

  • Thank you for the reminder!! Yes, i am breathing deep! Great idea to make this group!

  • Everytime I open this site somebody has added something that amazes and inspires me.  I have just added Doulliard's techniques to my runs and have been doing Vinyasa Flow yoga for the past three months, utililizing the teachings of Seanne Corn and more recently Shiva Rea.  I am loving the energy, vitality and mental clarity.

As a newbie, I would love to meet like minded people who share my passion and can share their experiences so we can learn from each other,

Thank you so much for starting this group.
