An Irritated Tongue

I got an irritated tongue a couple weeks ago. It was RED, Blotched, & very painful. I chalked it up to eating too many peaches in 2 days. so I stayed off the peaches (I just ate bananas & watermelon for a few days), and my tongue irritation when away.

But now, I'm eating strictly bananas, mangos, and watermelon and my tongue is starting to get irritated again!!! I'm at a loss! I'm tired of having this problem!! Does anyone now what I should do to remedy this? Need assistance.

FYI: I eat only fruit until 4, then nothing but cooked carbs after that. I'm very happy with the cooked carbs part of my diet. I feel full and satiated every evening. I just don't know what to do about this tongue problem. please help!

  • I've had this happen to me from kiwi before.  Usually due to low quality/unripe fruit.  Mango or peaches should be soft and juicy.

  • I would guess the sore tongue is most likely from eating some unripe fruit.  Peaches should be super sweet with not a hint of sourness, same with mangoes.  Can be hard to find these ripe if you are not near where they are grown.  I am in the mid west and find that I can only find peaches that have not been picked too early to ripen at the beginning of the season, that is the first pick of the season.  After that they pick them so early that they never will ripen/sweeten, they just get softer and rot.

Other less likely possibilities could be pesticides, peach fuzz, mango sap on the peel or an allergy.

    • Yeah I always wash peaches really well because the fuzz irritates the skin around my mouth. Nectarines don't do that an I prefer them
  • Wired I've never had that issue from peaches and in the summer I eat loads
