I've just had a meal of Corn Pasta with sauce I made myself with Organic Tomatoes (so, no salt or any other crap, just corn & tomatoes).

I only eat it sometimes, along with the rest of the family, because the kids eat it.

After finishing, I sat back to think about how bloated I feel and I reached for the packet to read out of curiosity.

After reading the packet, I've come to a revelation...

--- This crap isn't worth my digestion time. ---

Let me explain; Of the 2 packets of pasta cooked, I had probably a good bit more than quarter. After reading the packet, I can estimate this to be around 1000 calories.

Now, after a cooked meal I notice I can't eat anything else for a good 3.5 hours or more.

I'm accustomed to eating a fruit meal consisting of between 1200 & 2000 calories and being ready to eat whatever the fru!t I want 20-60 minutes later.

In the time it will have taken to digest 1000 calories worth of pasta & be ready for the next meal, I could have easily stuffed in over 2500 calories worth of Bananas.

OR, let's go all out, I could have also consumed two small meals of dates equating to around 6000 calories in that time. Yes, I eat 50 dates in one hit.

I should also clarify that I can't eat cooked food for my final meal of the day. I eat fruit around an hour before bedtime otherwise I find that I don't sleep properly or sh!t properly in the morning.

Conclusion:

In the time it takes to eat & digest a gutfull of Corn Pasta, I could have more than tripled that carb intake from fruit = Not worth my digestion time.

I think I'll have to remember not to eat cooked carbs on a day when I have otherwise under-eaten. Either that or I just won't bother participating in the family's twice a week cooked meal. Or try to break the kids' cooked corn addiction.

It's not like I crave these things anyway. If I ate according to cravings, I'd be eating nothing but fruit. I crave Bananas. And dates, which unfortunately are in short supply here at the moment. And mangoes.

Yeah, Bananas are cool and I have almost 200kgs of them in my house at the moment, but I really wish I had dates & mangoes. And mangoes... And mangoes...

... mangoes.

...

Yeah, anyway, ummm...

You know what,... stuff this cooked carb thing, it's just not working for me.

Only one way of eating has ever worked well for me, when I wake up tomorrow I'm back on 100% raw. Just looking around the kitchen,... I think I'll be starting with a 2L Banana/Passionfruit smoothie. Lookin' forward to that so much that I'm gonna go to bed early. Yes, midnight is early for me lately, unfortunately.

Goodnight, Mango Munchers.

  • Are you eating any vegetables?

  • Waiting for mango season too! I had a meal of brown rice in the afternoon after a day of bananas and oranges recently... I went from beginning to feel sky-high to flat-line, cooked food really kills the buzz for me. All part of the learning :)

  • 6000cals of dates from '2 small meals'. Please post this on youtube. :)

  • I was all messed up on that Ancient Harvest Corn/Quinoa pasta last year.

    • My stomach never feels light eating cooked food...ever.
    • Eating cooked food and raw food in the same day causes an upset stomach.
    • When I'm all raw, I can have a few tomatos, or an avocado once in a while, its not a big deal. But when I eat cooked food if I don't mix foods perfectly I feel like crap for days. Its just way overly complicated. After eating cooked food, it takes me a week of raw food to recover the light and energized feeling of being on raw food.

I don't know how people do RT4, but if it works for them that's awesome. After I've had more experience on the 100% diet, maybe I'll go back to see how my body feels. In my opinion, there is a lot of value for a person to go 100% raw first...then go RT4. That way I will be more in tune, sensitive to my body, and know how to avoid the dangers of grains/rices/pasts...etc, so I won't have to compromise.

    • I also have to mix cooked foods perfectly otherwise I get heartburn. Of course, cooked food is always my last choice, whenever possible. Corn pasta just doesn't make me happy and satisfied.

Sometimes it's hard to get enough quality and variety of fruit. I was 100% raw for like 3 months and then I had no choice but to add some cooked foods. I was undercarbed and little or no quality fruit was available. That was really hard to accept at first - guilt, numbness, stomach ache, indigestion in general... I had to learn how to cook all over again, how to combine certain foods and also correct my sodium intake. It's a lot easier now to have some cooked food when done correctly but I feel my best on 100% raw and it is always my primary goal.

      • With cheap costco banana available all year round how do we get out of fruits supplies?

        • I wish I made a video on that one... In that period of time bananas were more expensive than usual but the biggest problem was they were just awful, rotten before they managed to ripen. There was nothing I could do about it, they came out of stores like that. Tried to mask their awful taste in smoothies with some frozen fruit but wasn't very successful. I was sooo against cooked food back then and was really trying hard to stay 100% raw but unfortunately I ran out of options... I had some bad cravings, I was binging on nuts and I felt like I was living in a godforsaken place!

  • eating fruit 20-60 minutes after eating fruit you can do if those fruits are either sub-acid and/or acid OR sub-acid and/or sweet.. cause after 20-60 minutes it is still in your stomach.

apples for example take about 3 hours to go through..

i use this list for digestion times and found it to be fairly correct, they've tested individual foods: http://www.unani.com/digestion_time_of_foods.htm

i can verify at least the apples, if i have eaten a bunch of apples i can still burp up apples after more then 2 hours, when i have my banana-date smoothie i can still burp that stuff up after 3 hours.

Also, though i eat corn-rice pasta with tomatosauce too every now and then, starch and tomatoes is very poor combination as far as digestion goes.

  • thanks, zeta, this is my truth too. i tried white rice a few days ago, from not having any cooked starches in about a month and a half. i have not had grains, refined sugar, or flour products in about a year and a half (in the past they wrecked my internal condition). the rice hit me hard.

i felt like i hadn't eaten 'real food'. like the feeling i used to get after eating refined fats and often fruit juices.

i know a lot of fellows do Raw Till 4 on here to great success, but for me, i don't know if i can. in my experience, eating pasta, cereals, sushi, dumplings, refined sugars, and grains are not nourishing to my spirit, however much i wish they were. i worry they may trigger the craving demon inside that makes me reach for them over the beauties of life, if i choose to eat them again. i don't feel a need to eat them, but when i see others eating them without worry, from Raw Till 4, i wonder if they ever had similar battles with food that i had.

i've found, for me, raw fruit is more effective in achieving that peace and serenity, then potatoes and rice, at least for today in 2014. perhaps i will be able to incorporate these in a spiritually nourishing way, but perhaps not.

    have a great day ^_^

  • I ate a pound of corn pasta today, expected it to all be great, but my body definitely does not feel the same as if I had just eaten a bunch of fruit. I think I'm also done with cooked food
