  • awesome.  Thanks for the info and link!

  • Nate, so if you had to recommend one, would it be the kitchen aid? Are both equally easy to clean? Is there a model number? I'm looking to upgrade.
  • Thanks for all the replies.

Like Nate says above all my banana smoothies in the blendtec seem to go brown within 20mins or so. Frozen nanas seem to be even worse than fresh. I've tried the pulse method but even with the *slightest* touch on the pulse button I get a vortex forming, can't seem to keep it from aerating. I think this a peculiarity of the pulse function on the blendtec. Maybe an immersion blender is the way to go.

Have found that adding a little fat seems to reduce the froth.

    • It's true. I have a blendtec, and pulse blending without a vortex is an impossibility.
  • Good stuff.

    Appreciate it, nate

  • interesting.  Thanks, guys.

Seems a lot easier to clean than a blender too.

    How much was yours nate?

  • what wind said - the browning is due to additional air oxidising the nutrients in the banana - reduce the air, you reduce the browning.

  • Use a stick (immersion) blender.

    • How powerful is a stick, Bart?  Are there any normal fruits it bogs down with?

      • You can get different strengths.  Mine is a super cheapo from the discount store.  I use it for ripe bananas and nothing else. It would get bogged down easily with anything more fibrous. Actually would like to upgrade to something a bit stronger.
