Testing if dates are raw

I know i can test it hydrxy peroxid but how to do it?

I put my dates in and nothing happened, so i thougth they are not raw. Then i tried it with apples which are 100% raw picked from the garden and nothing happened.

Anyone who know more about this test?

  • This is really interesting, I looked it up but couldn't find anything on this subject. Where did you learn how to do this?

  • Pretty sure your stomach acid would kill anything like that.

  • I have totally wondered the same thing.  Since I have found many worms and other bugs in dates as well as finding others with bug poop I wondered that.  But not only that a lot of times I see these white ball things near the top of the date or under the skin and to me they look like little eggs but I really have no clue what they are.  Seeing this makes me think I am eating tons of little bug eggs by mistake.  I hope that is isn't eggs but if so I hope it doesn't hatch in my gut.

    • The little white balls that are under the top layer of skin, and around the top are just concentrated balls of sugar.  Just taste them and you can tell...they taste amazing!  Soooo sweet!  If they are brown and INSIDE the date, around the pit, then it is probably bugs and bug poop.

  • Most importantly, cut each one open to make sure theirs no bugs or bug dung in them, or mold.. Learned that the hard way far too many times lol :)

  • I didn't know you could test your fruit like this.  That is pretty cool.  I will give it a try.  I wonder how why hydrogen peroxide works, I mean how can hydrogen peroxide tell it is raw?  LOL

  • Are you sure you are using hydrogen peroxide?

  • I've done it several times, side to side, with fresh dates and dates that I suspected to be not raw.  In multiple cases, the fresh ones bubbled, and the suspect ones sometimes did, and sometimes didn't.
