Just interested to know what sports you do or want to start doing? :o)

I do Kung fu and im hoping that 811 will give me more energy to keep training longer and harder, resulting in more strength to kick my opponents ass :D also hopefully i will be a little lighter so i'll be faster and able to run further and for longer. i have high expectations of 811!! but think the more effort i put into sticking to the diet, the more the diet will help me in return. Fingers crossed!

  •  I found with my running I seem to be able go longer without being so thirsty. I also noted that I stay constant with my weight during the year

  • Hey Adam

I can imagine that any Marshall Arts form needs flexibility and good reflexes, a properly fuelled body will get you results you can relate to by following a 811 lifestyle.

Welcome to the group, look forward to you sharing some tips on flexibility, I know that it is an area as I get older I need to pay more attention to.

  • Hey Lolita

Food is not the healer your body does the healing, giving it the best fuel for repair and maintenance will go a long way to recovery, health, and vitality.

If by saying "I just started a few weeks ago" you mean with a raw foods lifestyle, then you have a lot to look forward to and a lot to learn, welcome fellow traveller.

Depending on the nature of your  "long-lasting hamstring injury" sometimes what gets overlooked is what is maybe out of balance that is causing your hamstring to be possibly "overloaded"

  • Marathon runner..............fruit is what makes me run.
  • Hey Kate how are you going with your transition, have you managed to move through the energy slump you were having.

Are you still teaching your aerobics, at times it sounds like you are not enjoying the aging process by measuring it by past performances.

Totally get where you're coming from but it is one of the facts of life as much as it can be a hard pill to swallow age will catch up with us all. I am not looking at a past performance as a future predictor of how I will perform at some point in the future, I am just making sure what I have at the present moment is well looked after and treated with gratitude.

I have found that sport as with other things that arrive in your life may be for certain time that you finish with and then move on. I know that when I was into sailing nothing else mattered and everything else revolved around the sailing, the same applied to triathlon when I was fully engaged in that.

Now I have moved on from full engagement with triathlon and other things have evolved in my life that take up that space, I still enjoy my sport and my running kayaking etc. but it no longer is a necessity for my feeling of fulfillment as a person.

I think this is a by product of the raw food lifestyle I encompass, certain elements of holding depression at bay that you use sport for, either consciously or unconsciously have been alleviated and I no longer need certain chemical interactions that happen with intense sporting activity.

  • Good luck with your aerobics teaching, it's so addictive!  I've been an instructor 25yrs now, I can't imagine ever stopping, love it more now than when I began!  I'd love to be in my 20s now, to start all over again, the training and info available is so much more than when I started.

So glad lfrv is working for your energy.  That's the main reason I was inspired to go raw.  Change has been v v slow for me, but coming up to 1 yr I feel there's a slight improvement.  Just beware of doing 25-30 classes per week; a syndrome many fall into for a while (self included).  You can keep going a few years, but tire gradually.  A good amount many keep thriving on is 12-15/week. Enjoy 8-D!

    • Hey Ben

if you ran in that hat you are a legend but it's gotta be worth another 10 mins at least, if you had a banana shaped hat instead of a horn and hide type

  •  Hi Sam,

I have been a triathlete for over 15 years and have been exploring the Raw Food lifestyle for the past 30 months, during that time I changed a few things in relation to my sport, so I have no real comparison, performance wise, as a before and after .  I have found the most notable thing for me, was a more constant level of energy and less anxiety in my life. I have had to deal with injury over the past 12 months and I know that I would have been in full blown depression if i had been following the life style I was prone to, before understanding the principles of a raw food 811 lifestyle.
