Stress on Banana Island

So I just finished day 2 of my attempt at a 7 day trip to banana island, and I am feeling a bit stressed. To set the base, I'm coming from a mostly raw diet, eating cooked starches with steamed veggies about 3 nights per week on average. I tend to eat between 3300 calories and 3800 calories daily.

Although I've been more motivated to stay active earlier on in the day since starting banana island, around my second meal (either right before or right after), I am starting to feel very irritable, and losing the desire to want to continue. I think I am experiencing some mild detox systems, including the irritability, very faint waves of headaches, the feeling of "residues" coming through the skin on my face, and feeling very sleepy (wanting to take a nap and/or rest).

I also haven't been feeling satiated after my meals (specifically after dinner) even though I seem to be eating more than I normally do. On day 1, I ate 48 organic bananas, totaling roughly 4000 calories, and today I managed 43 organic bananas, totaling roughly 3800 calories. Because of this lack of satiation, I am also feeling quite anxious, constantly thinking about how I will be able to get down any more bananas at the next meal. A large part of my reasoning for taking this trip to banana island was to help alleviate that anxious feeling I find myself experiencing frequently while living the high carb vegan lifestyle - always planning to make sure I am either full or that I have food on hand for the next "carbing up."

Up until about halfway through my second day, I had only been making banana smoothies or eating them whole. Around lunch today, I felt hungry, but did not want to eat a smoothie nor whole bananas, so I looked up some "banana recipes." I was able to try a few of them, eating 5 smaller meals on day 2, compared to eating 3 larger meals with a pre-bed snack on day 1.

With bananas being my favorite food, I was anticipating banana island to be a fun experience. Since beginning however, I have mostly doubted my ability to make it a full 7 days, as the initial effects have been more hindering than beneficial. I do think that overall, I feel a bit better after finishing day 2 than I did after day 1.

Anyone else feel like this early on or was it more so later on in the trip, towards the end when you knew it was almost over?

Anyone else currently on banana island that can help motivate me to stick with my 7 day plan?

  • Extra sleep and/or rest laying down with eyes closed is usually needed when under going some type of cleansing in the early days of adjustment.  Getting to bed early or taking a nap may fix things.   So Spiffy just did an amazing 30 days on banana island.  I think he may have added lettuce to his island.  This will still be much less strain on the digestion than eating all variety of fruits and veggies, giving it rest and therefore free up lots of energy to heal and clean out.  You may want to contact him for tips and inspiration.  Congrats on 2 days, that's awesome! :)

  • maybe slowdown on so many add some lettuce.
