  • The quality of your breath will be the quality of your movement.  Let it flow naturally. Ujjayi breath is powerful. Practice  daily if you can.  Even if just for 15 minutes. Try a Yin style of yoga.   You hold poses for a long time. Up to ten minutes sometimes.  Very intense but powerful if you focus on your breath. Jaya Guru Devi!

  • Let yourself relax.  Think of how you might enjoy the experience.  Do some simple stuff at home.  Think of how you might naturally stretch when you wake up.  Look at a cat stretching.  Immerse yourself in this natural quality and then bring it to the mat when you're in a group.  It really helps if you can completely detach from what others are doing though this is hard when you're beginning.  Also explore the principle of minimum necessary muscular effort with all muscular action.  This doesn't mean being lazy and it doesn't mean no effort, it just means using no more effort than necessary.  Often in the beginning we apply much more force than we need to.  The more active a muscle is the less flexible it is.  Explore using muscles with very little effort and notice how this affects flexibility.

    • thanks , this will help definitely :D

    How to Increase Flexibility

this guy is a little coocie but he knows whats good :)

    • Thanks a lot Sagar Naga :)

  • Thanks guys I love all of your answers and I'm gonna follow your suggestions, Today I ate just fruits and I will keeping like that ,btw I'm not used to eat too much salt but I will cut it completely to see what happens

  • Hey jair,

Flexibility is very individual; but like everything else, its' use it or lose it.

If you enjoy yoga, I suggest you persevere; focus on your own experience and don't worry about all those bendy people you see around you.

Use your breath to help relax gradually; try proprioreceptive techniques such as breathe in, hold the stretch and tense up hard, then exhale, relax and allow a fraction more receptivity to your muscles lengthening.  You may need more time in a pose than other folks to respond.  I suggest not attending a yoga-to-music style of class, as the choreography is too fast for all but the experienced to attain a halfway effective stretch.

Flexibility will help your other fitness goals.

Yes 811rv will help, but not on it's own!

Dr Graham is very strong on advocating us to work on what we are not good at, rather than opting for what we find easy.

    • Well said Kate.

I feel more bendy after eating greens.  I usually have a green juice an hour or two before yoga.

  • I would say the biggest thing you can do is stop eating salt. It will improve your flexibility greatly. Other than that the only thing you can do is train every day.

    • made that experience too. Stop eating salt increases flexability and in general flexability increases that longer i eat raw. be patient.
