In need of advice

Hello all,

I've been lifting for a few months and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm doing this right.  I've definately toned up and I've been slowly increasing my weight but I still have sme questions.  How should I be combining these moves in order to best maximize my efforts.  I've been taking plans off of bodybuilding.com or other youtubers.  Some are challenging and other days I'm not sore at all.  I've been doing higher reps (4x15s) for upper body and back, and switching between 5x5s and 4x15s for legs.

I was just hoping to get clarification on how all this effects muscle building and fat loss to best help move toward the body I want.  Also wanted to make sure I was asking a vegan community - meat eaters just don't get it.

  • Hi! I'm sure that the programs you're using are great. The key is to stay consistent and keep working on it! It is definitely going to take a long time before you see the results of your body's transformation! But the really motivating part of the process is seeing the weight numbers you can do go up!! While it'll take a long while to get that 6 pack, you'll be squatting and lifting heavy much sooner, which I think is a far more satisfying goal. Are you keeping up with your stretching and flexibility too? I think neglecting flexibility is a huge limiting factor in a person's progression with strength building.

  • I would say that as long as you're progressively getting stronger (increasing the weights/certain amount of reps you do with a certain weight) it's not really a problem. 5x5 is gonna get you better at lifting closer to your max, but 4x15 will till get you strong as long as you're increasing the weights over time. Just do what you enjoy the most. :) Personally I like to mix 5x5 with 3 sets x 8-10 reps, and it's working very well
