  • Hi Don,

It looks like you have a nice set there in Chiang Mai. I lived in Thailand near Cambodia for a year back in 1997, and I return almost every year. I'll probably be leaving Japan for good to live in Thailand in the next year, so I would really like to hear about your set up there. I'll be going to Chiang Mai again on August 5. I plan to stay a few weeks at Wat Doi Suthep for a retreat from the 8th. So, I'll be free from the 5th to the 8th. Will you be free during that time? I'll also be free after the retreat.

  • Thanks for the super nice comment on my India Video !!! that was kool and really will give me enough energy to keep me going for weeks *
  • Hey Don!! I'm doing quite well, thanks! How about yourself?

I didn't get a chance to respond to your message on Facebook before I deactivated it (I became a bit overwhelmed with it recently...it's a bit too distracting for me at the moment!)

Mangoes around here have diminished in quality a bit, so I moved away from them around here... so I'm just enjoying the juicy fruit mix and bananas at the moment... will finally be arriving in Thailand on June 28th! Can't wait to stuff my face silly!

How are the trails out in rural Thailand, Don? Beautiful for running or biking? How's the bamboo bike treating you so far?

    Until soon, mate!

  • Hey Don. Your facebook account disappeared. Sent you a message a few days back back suggesting Tuesday (tomorrow) or wednesday for our ride. Are you up for it?

  • Thanks for the reply Don. Um... I forgot what I asked you! :D
If it was how to find accommodation and food then I may be in some trouble because my singing aint grand... to say the least. :)
  • Hello,
I'm heading to Pai today have heard good things about it but don't think I could love anywhere as much as here. Chiang Mai is absolutely amazing!!! I think I would like to move out here, and am seriously considering looking into teaching jobs on my way back through. I've heard its very difficult to land a teaching job here as so many others want to move out here. Do you have any thoughts on it? I will try to make it back here a few days before I fly out of Bangkok. Hope to see you then.
Anyways if you ever have some free time and would like to write ante on your experience actually living here long term as opposed to just visiting I would love to read about it, love others insights.
    Cheers,
    Jes
Hope you are having a wonderful time,...fav restaurant? blue Diamond
  • Wow Don, your life in Thailand sounds decadent! I dream of calling somewhere warm and tropical my home with an abundance of fruit. I'm actually trying to plan for it right now. Don't have a definitive plan yet but I'm brainstorming.

    Cheers, Maya

  • Hey, Don, just wondering, where are you originally from? I live in New York, US. What made you move to Thailand? And what do you do there for a living? I would love to the same but have to know what steps to take. Thanks.
  • I totally agree, best thing I ever did was quit the booze!

  • thanks Don.... so i would like to know if there are good bicycle store in chiang maï cause i would like to buy a (simple but strong) bike and rack bags to travel through thailand, and according to you is it easy to find a second hand- not too expensive- bike (cause i will certainly leave it , or sell i hope , at the end of my trip)

it's a pity somebody stoll my all rounder world traveller brompton last month...!!

    thanks for your help

    have a nice day

    thierry
