  • very sweet thank you!

  • Long story.. Been Raw.. High fat raw for years.. BUt figuring out the Fruity diet for about 5 months now.. :))

  • I have one other raw vegan in my house, and the others eat a lot of fruit and veggies, because that's what I buy.  but they're not totally thrilled with it.

I ate a lot of dried fruit and nuts in the beginning, before I read the 80/10/10 book.  It didn't work out very well for me.  I almost never do now.

I know a few raw vegans, but they are all of the 'gourmet' variety.  I've never met another friuty in person. I'd like to meet you guys sometime.

  • Let your own experience be your guide, but I don't think you need to worry about getting so much protein. mother's milk is 5% of calories from protein, and a baby grows more the first year than it ever will again. I try to get a lb. of leafy greens in a day, and I find that it's enough.

I tried transition with cooked veggies, potatoes, yams, etc. it didn't work for me. the thing is, without salt, spices, sauce, they are bland and boring. I'd much rather eat a mango, than a plain baked potato. for me, the hard part is giving up salt and fat.  I found that if I eat a 1000 cal fruit smoothie for breakfast, and another lunch, I don't want anything else, and can eat a good dinner too.  If I don't get enough calories in early, I want everything!

Living on the sound end, Mt Vernon is a long haul for me.  I buy my produce where I work, at The Star Store in Langley.  For the first year, I bought all my produce from Payless in Freeland. I worked out a deal with the produce manager.  He charged me 20% over his cost, if I bought by the box. Then three months ago, I offered the same to The Star Store, and started buying from them.  Then two months ago, I got a job in the produce department there, and now it's even better.  Come see me if you're ever on the south end, i'll get you the same deal! For example, a 40 lb box of organic bananas would be $30 right now.

I tried Safeway once, but they're corporate, and they wouldn't do shit for me.  I bought a box of bananas, and they charged me the same price per pound as one piece of fruit off the shelf.

    Good luck!

  • Hi new Fruity Friend! :))

  • Hi Esther, since last April.  No, I'm not 100% yet.  sometimes I eat rice and pasta. about twice a week. I don't know if it's exactly 80/10/10.  I haven't been counting it, but I'm sure it's close. I have an around 1000 cal fruit smoothie for breakfast, another for lunch, some more fruit after work, and then a big salad for dinner.

  • Wow, another islander!  never thought I'd see that.  Welcome!

  • Hi!! thank you so much <3 I simply eat whenever I'm hungry, usually 3 or 4 times a day. I love running and aerobics like the Beach Body Insanity and Assylum workouts, biking, hiking, swimming, tennis, canoeing... anything active! :) I workout for 1-2 hours a day. In the beginning I didn't and was still successful.
